Love Was Born in a Stable

Happy Christmas is one of my favorite songs during this holiday season the words in this song speak to me more so right now because of the sad state of affairs our society and world is living in right now. We seem to be constantly at war with each other in our homes, communities, with friends and people we don’t even know. The amount of negativity, hatred and intolerance that I see on the news, on social media is beyond sad especially when it’s during the season of giving, the season that is supposed to represent the most wonderful time of the year. We have all lost sight of what the real meaning of this season is truly about. So much anger, lack of respect, commercialism, and downright ignorance seems to be front and center and it needs to stop. The entitlement of our society is reaching a new level and it’s not one we should be proud of.

Christmas is a magical time not because of santa, presents, a little elf that sits on a shelf but because of what it still is and that is the celebration of the Birth of Jesus. Christmas is something that we should practice each and every day of our lives not just one day in December but everyday. The spirit of giving, serving those in need, helping to bring about change but not change through violence and disrespect for each other and those in authority. So much sadness right now hatred for so many and we are all Gods children. Everyone of us matters, no matter what our color, religion, ethnicity we are all Gods children and we all deserve to be loved, respected and valued. Human life matters. People matter

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jesus represents for all of us what is good in this world that which is truth, love, and hope. Jesus was not just any baby he represents a healing renewed spirit, strength and joy. He represents a love for us that is far greater than what we could of ever imagined.

I can’t help but wonder what Jesus must be thinking when he sees the way we all act, behave towards each other the intolerance we show for those that are different, the way we treat one another by gossiping about friends, family, people we don’t know, the judgement we pass on others just to make us feel better without regard for how it might make others feel. The petty jealousy of people who think that they are better than everyone else in the same line of business as they are in and don’t think twice to act mean or unkind to prove that they are superior. The ones that hide behind God and their faith to make themselves look good. He sees all of this and must wonder what is wrong with his children how did they get to be so selfish, so lost and misguided.

I came across this article and it had the 13 ways to remember the true meaning of Christmas so I am sharing them with you in the hopes that with all the excitement and rush of this season to get things done we can stop and take a moment to re-kindle what truly is important. To feel the spirit of the season and why it exists.
