I was recently contacted by this amazing and very inspirational women Ashley Shaffer who asked if she could share her art work and a little about herself on our blog! I was more than happy to oblige her request as you will see she is creative, talented and I feel gifted. Her art is both unique, colorful and to me her works of art tell a story. She understands the special needs world and how advocacy for Epilepsy and all special needs is truly something we need to spread and through her art she is trying to do her part to help others. I have listed her links below and I would recommend taking a look at her pages and getting to know Ashley. She truly is inspiring but more importantly she is showing the world that although she is deaf people with disabilities can and do achieve success in life because “disability is not inability. “
Here is a few words from Ashley : My name is Ashley Shaffer. I am Deaf artist. I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Art grows in my heart since I was four or five years old. Art is a huge part of my life because this is who I am and this is what I love to do. Here it is my artwork — “Hope” (2013). These materials I’ve used — prismacolor marker and black sharpie marker. I dedicated this artwork to inspire wonderful special needs people with epilepsy. I wanted to show my support for Epilepsy Awareness. Since purple is color symbol for Epilepsy Awareness. I just wanted to pour more heart-soft colors in that symbol of heart because it represents a lot of meanings toward love, support, caring, strong, growth, and everything which is hope and timeless. It makes their lives colorfully! Believe More, Hope More!
