Dr. William Lievens

LievensDr. Lievens received undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Miami in Coral Gables and Miami, FL. He completed Neurology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, during which he presented at national neurology meetings and earned the Neurology Excellence in Resident Research Award. Dr. Lievens continued his education at UAB, completing fellowships in Clinical Neurophysiology (EEG/Epilepsy track) and Sleep Medicine. At UAB, he served as the President of the House Staff Council, on the Dean’s Council for Graduate Medical Education and its Executive Board, and on the Board of Directors for the University of Alabama Medical Alumni Association.

Dr. Lievens is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Epilepsy Society, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Lievens serves on the AES Student/Resident Education Subcommittee and the Medical Association of the State of Alabama’s Council for Medical Service.

Dr. Lievens is a Board Certified Neurologist, and Board Eligible in Clinical Neurophysiology, Epilepsy, Sleep Medicine, and EEG. In addition to general neurology, his special interests are treating patients with epilepsy/seizures or sleep disorders.

Dr. Lievens and his wife, Christy, enjoy travel and spending time with their young son.
